1. Buy your food, Puppies are eating Hills Science Diet Puppy. We recommend not switching their food for the first 6 weeks at home – this will help reduce the chances of diarrhoea.
  2. Purchase puppy supplies: food & water bowls, crate, bed, leash, baby gates and other items you’d like them to have.
  3. Puppy proof your home – very similar to baby proofing. Make sure there aren’t items around that puppy can chew that you treasure or that can make puppy sick / injured.
  4. Watch the video links below to prepare for before and after you bring your puppy home.
  5. Review the contract (click the download button at the top of this page of this page). Please reach out with any questions you may have. I will have two printed copies of the contract for us to sign.
  6. Make Final Payment Arrangements
  7. Schedule a vet appointment (per the contract: to be within 3 business days after pick up day)
  8. Sign up for puppy class
  9. Sign up for your free 30 day Trupanion Pet Insurance within 24 hours after picking up your puppy. (Information will be included in your puppy take home folder)
  10. Register your pup’s microchip within 24 hours of picking up your puppy. (Information will be included in your puppy take home folder)

Heres a video on what you‘ll need to have ready before puppy comes home

And this is a link to a playlist to help from day 1 that puppy comes home.  Even with all the dogs we’ve had in our home over the years, I watched the series (a few times 🤣) before bringing Paisley home & again when we brought her home. I found it helped the transition to be very smooth.
